‘Hitman’ says UK boxing needs one jurisdiction

Former world champion Ricky Hatton believes that the sanctioning for upcoming clash between David Haye and Dereck Chisora could lead to other UK bouts being sanction by other bodies than the British Boxing Board of Control.

Haye, 31, and 28 year-old Chisora meet in a heavyweight grudge match on Saturday night, with both fighters having to travelled to Luxembourg to get licensed and Hatton is worried that other fighter’s may follow suit.

"It would be a shame if it went that way," Hatton told The Mirror.

"We all should be under one banner for boxing.

"We have so many titles now and people avoid each other, so having two organisations would worsen the situation. It would be a disaster if that happens."

Hatton, 33, still plans on pulling up a chair like the majority of boxing fans this weekend though and believes the needle between the two, who publicly brawled in Munich last February, only adds to the intrigue of the fight.

"I'll certainly be watching it. There's bad blood, it's exciting,” he added.
