Undefeated Tyson Fury has been stripped of his Irish heavyweight title after fighting American Vinny Maddalone under a British Licence on Saturday night at the Hand Arena in Clevedon.

The English-born 24 year-old, who defeated Irishman Martin Rogan to claim the belt, easily defeated the veteran live on Channel 5 and Boxing Union of Ireland President Mel Christie then confirmed the news to the Irish Independent.

Fury looks set to move up in class after amassing a 19-0 record fighting below his level and could now eye a European title tilt, before eventually moving on to a world title challenge in the next twelve months.
