Former champion overweight at second weigh-in
Adrien Broner’s final fight at the 130lb limit will not go
ahead tonight as the former WBO super-featherweight champion once again came in
overweight for his bout against Vicente Escobedo.
The 22 year-old, who lost his title on the scales at yesterday’s
weigh-in after coming in 3.5lbs over, was given a mark of 140lbs for today’s
second weight check and came in at 143lbs leading to the bout being scrapped
altogether.
Escobedo, 30, is set to be handed a shot at the vacant belt
in the coming months, whilst ‘The Problem’ will now move up to the lightweight
division as originally planned before the clash at the U.S Bank Arena.
