Undefeated heavyweight Tyson Fury is looking at facing
Tomasz Adamek in the near future, with a view to challenging WBA 'regular' title holder Alexander Povetkin, before a unification with Wladimir Klitschko, according to uncle and trainer
Peter Fury.
Fury, 24, dominated American Vinny Maddalone at the Hand
Arena in Clevedon last weekend to move to 19-0 and has been accused in some
quarters of taking on easier opponents in a bid to bulk up his record.
Uncle Peter has spoken to WBN today and is adamant that
Tyson is moving at the right pace and says that the former British,
Commonwealth and Irish champion is now ready for the top fighters in the
division.
“People are saying Tyson fight’s poor opposition but he is
stepping up,” Fury told World Boxing News.
“For his next bout we are trying to secure Tomasz Adamek and
then Alexander Povetkin. If they agree
to fight then believe me it’s on!
“Tyson going to show he's world. He will prove his class by
facing best in the heavyweight division.
“Michael Grant and Chris Arreola, whoever, line them up! All
Tyson’s fights now on will be the among best.
“What will the boxing fans say then regarding Tyson avoiding
good fighters?
“Tyson is going to show that he is the best out there by
beating the best. He is now ready and come this November, he will be entering the big time in world boxing!”
The 6ft 9ins heavyweight now has a three-fight plan in place
that could conceivably lead him into a 2013 clash with younger Klitschko brother Wladimir, who currently has a stranglehold on the WBA/WBO/IBF and IBO belts.
The only stumbling block could be Fury’s intention to stage
any potential world title fight in the UK, although Klitschko does have a habit of fighting around Europe
in different venues and has never ruled out a trip to London.
